Live Review: The Music + The Rain Band + The Bandits
I was excited about this gig. I've enjoyed The Music's debut album and have been looking forward to tonight for sometime - tickets sold out about 4/5 weeks earlier so I was expecting an electric atmosphere inside this rather strange new venue under Leeds train station.

Band Profile: Termite
A 'disgustingly contagious' four piece jazzy, proggy, spacey blues rock band - New E.P "Growth" out now - termite.bandcamp.com<br /><br />"One of West Yorkshire/Lancashire's most exploratory young bands, Termite's 3rd EP... Growth, is an all too brief voyage into a melting pot of blues, garage rock and early psychedelia" - Counterfeit Magazine<br /><br />"Impressively expansive and explorative music... 'Growth' is a mixture of styles, influences and genres that gel wonderfully to create a cacophony of the familiar and the surprising" - Listen with Monger<br /><br />"An exuberant crescendo of noise...roller coaster...in all senses of the words" - MusicMafia<br /><br />"When the world ends and the horsemen make their descent from heaven to cleanse the earth with fire, plague and pestilence; the last sound we will hear will be the last minute and a half of Kettle Of Fish." - Space Giraffe<br /><br />"Their attempts to blend styles are the work of a band attempting to look forwards rather than back. The textural nature of much of the music on 'Memory Loss' and the propulsive garage rock that ends 'Kettle of Fish' suggest that this is a band with a good few more sides to show us yet." - Echoes and Dust<br /><br />"'[Growth] draws you into both the sounds and the lyrics with a near hypnotic feel... An EP which will add to the collection of any music fan, who appreciates and welcomes the emergence of new and exciting musical talent." - Keep Music Live<br /><br />"From the beginning of the EP 'These Clowns' had me already hooked with the loud drums and the LSD guitar riffing" - WordsForMusic<br /><br />"Several times, the set descends into extended proggy breakdowns with electric double bass and flute thrown in for good measure but they are charismatic and musically capable enough for these Pink Floyd moments to be powerful rather than merely self indulgent" - No-TITLE Magazine

CD Review: The Music - s/t
The Music have had a phenomenal start to their working lives. Three years on from their origins in Kippax, expectations and circumstances have said "this album has got to be massive." Early gigs at the Duchess of York in January 2000 showed glimpses of their root talents: a searing voice and twitching charismatic in Robert Harvey and a guitar trance demon in Adam Nutter.

Band Profile: Redwire
2012 has been hectic for redwire! This young 5-piece from Bradford emerged from their studio at the start of the year with an infectious, high-energy, classic indie-rock set which has seen them gain followers and plaudits wherever they have performed.<br /><br />Their debut single was released in May through the independent label 'One Above Records' and received high praise from Supajam who observed; "redwire play a brand of scuzzy, bluesy rock which places them sonically somewhere between the Arctic Monkeys and The Enemy, only with the playfulness of the former and none of the boredom of the latter."<br /><br />A 15 date UK tour saw them perform alongside King Charles, Bastille, We Are Augustine's, The Vaseline's and History of Apple Pie. They were also busy on the festival circuit with slots at Long Division, Live At Leeds, X&Y and Crooked Ways where Lyric Lounge Review boldly declared; "redwire have knocked away all pretenders to the indie throne and filled a void we were beginning to think was permanent."<br /><br />redwire's music is in high demand off stage with syncs on the highly acclaimed BBC series Being Human and a screenplay written and directed by Irvine Welsh. The band recently finished filming scenes for 'Switch', the new drama on ITV2, in which two of their tracks also feature.<br /><br />The second single 'Playing With Fire' released on 29th October, accompanied by a 20 date UK tour includes supports to Reverend & The Makers and The Pigeon Detectives.<br /><br />With their eagerly anticipated EP expected in early 2013, redwire are definitely a band to catch up close and personal whilst you still have the chance!

Pulled Apart by Horses are a new, sickening, rock-dirge act who seem to be getting a little bit of attention, even though they've only played about four gigs and have two tracks on MySpace. Chris Lowe asks this motley crew what the deal is.

Interview: Arcane Roots
With the sheer number of bands storming the UK scene at the moment it's harder than ever to stand out. But at this year's Sonisphere festival, playing to a crowd that included members of Mastodon and Slipknot, Arcane Roots did just that. I caught up with the guys after their tremendous performance to find out some more about what they do, their ethos as a band and their plans for the future.

Rock music. It's not that simple these days. Like a supermarket that has so much variety it's hard to know what to get, rock music has so many flavours, it's hard to pin down which flavour of rock music is rock music these days.

The main problem with the three songs that make up this EP, is that frontman Nikki's soulful voice, smooth vocal rhythms and naff pop-music lyrics ("right now you want me / right now you need me" etc.) are a bad fit for the steady, rock 'n roll chug of the music.
