Interview: St. Somebody
This is what happened when I met St Somebody, who are Rob, Ben, Arley and Abeeku, 4 young lads from Halifax. I wanted to find out a little more about them and to discuss their 3rd single release, 'Places', available now on bandcamp for the measly sum of £1.50. It's bloody good so go buy it! There is a real sense of fun and unity with the band, the guys are obviously close and like each others company. All the way through there was jibes and giggles and chat outside of the questions. Some printable and some not! So this is what I can publish....

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you the single of the year. Of course it won't win any award for being so, that will go to the next Pop Star puppet to come off Cowell's production line.

CD Review: The Bilderberg Group - This City!
A burst of harmonised vocals introduces this latest single from The Bilderberg Group, "This City". A jaunty, jangly guitar rhythm is the song's foundations whilst a swirl of organ sweeps below those rich vocals.

CD Review: The Bravery - Unconditional EP
It's happening, I can feel it in my waters, bubbling beneath the surface, a new genre will infest the radios, TVs and magazines of the UK in the year two 00 five, led by Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight and The Killers, this is the bastard offshoot of what came of The Strokes inspired NY explosion at the turn of the century, ladies and gentlemen feel free to dance again because indie dance rock is back and it's catching like a fire in a hay factory.

Live Review: Stellastarr + The Killers
The Killers are from Las Vegas - that place where celebrities go to get fat, legendary and dead. This in itself should be enough to make you want to go see them but if you want more encouragement there's the fact that they have a battery of fantastic, up-tempo, future indie-disco classics and more on-stage charisma than Timberlake, Connery and Elvis combined - and trust me, that's damn charismatic.

Live Review: Brutal Tinkerbell + Erin's Third Incident + Future Sons of Rome
If ever there was a lesson for new bands to learn then Future Sons Of Rome are it. 1) Your singer should never wear sunglasses unless you are playing on the main stage of a festival or have sold out a well lit arena.

Cunningly spotting that indiepop is boring retro Nazi rubbish if you do it for more than one album, our valiant heroes The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart have spent recent singles trying to sound like a hazy shoegazy New Order.

The primary reason for the great and the good of Leeds society piling into the cosy Faversham this Thursday night was the chance to honour our local up-and-coming pop heroes, Sky Larkin, and the launch of their debut 7" ('One of Two' on DTTR records - available in all credible outlets now, pop pickers!) Prior to this brooding slice of indie perfection, however, we had a couple of other outfits to draw us in the direction of the Fav's intimate stage.

I'll give you a snapshot of my day on Saturday, last weekend. I took the dog for a 4 mile walk around Rodley, picked-up my first ever press-perk type wristband, went to my favourite hideaway (The Leeds Library) to snaffle my pack-up and lose myself in a book for an hour or so, headed to The Cockpit to catch some live music, nipped for a brew with the lovely Mrs Pickle, moseyed-on down to Trinity Church for some more live music, popped home to feed the pets, went back out to Brudenell Social Club for another portion of live music and then finished the night at The Wardrobe for a cherry-on-top serving of, yup, more live music.
