CD Review: Papa Roach - Lifeline
Love them or hate them, with over ten million album sales under their belt, you can't deny that Papa Roach have done alright for themselves, even if they've never really been 'hip.' The second single to be lifted off their 'Metamorphosis' album, 'Lifeline' is more radio-friendly than first single 'Hollywood Whore.' While this may turn off fans of Papa Roach's angrier, more metal-tinged material, you can easily imagine arenas full of people lending their voices to the chorus.

CD Review: Papa Roach - Naked and Fearless
Papa Roach continue their mission to distance themselves from their dodgy nu-metal past, with acoustic EP 'Naked And Fearless.' Firstly, I'm not entirely sure three tracks - one of which is an acoustic version of recently-released single 'Lifeline' - qualifies as an EP (surely, it's more of a long single?) and, secondly, once you take away the big, brash guitars, there's really not an awful lot left of Papa Roach.

CD Review: Creed - Overcome
'Overcome' is out first taster of Creed's forthcoming 'Full Circle' album, their first release since 2004's 'Greatest Hits' compilation and their first studio album since 2001's 'Weathered.' 'Overcome' is swaggering, melodic rock, trimmed in glimmering chords and shot through with Scott Stapp's gravel-throated but melodic vocal lines.

CD Review: 36 Crazyfists - Rest Inside the Flames
36 Crazyfists, for anyone that cares to remember, were vaguely lumped in with the late 90's nu-metal scene, bands such as Papa Roach stealing their thunder with generic riffs and catchy choruses.

CD Review: Feeder - Idaho
Wow, I leave Feeder alone for ten years and they're still making the same record. I imagine this is what it'll be like for me when I attend those dreaded school reunions in not-so-many years time...

Live Review: Insect Guide + Cakey Face + The Starfighter Pilot + Guile
I've never seen the Mixing Tin so packed midweek, especially for a Monday night! So it looks as though we are in for a treat with the band line up this evening - or so I thought!

CD Review: The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell And Back
Don't get me wrong, I wanted to like this record. Like most rock fans wanting a break from the whole "distorted guitars and vocals which sound like the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street" schtick of yer Slipknots and Papa Roaches in 2003, I thought The Darkness were a breath of fresh air - a group with their eyes shamelessly set on selling out Wembley five nights in a row rather than just staring at their feet and being happy to be anchored to the toilet circuit.

CD Review: Various Artists - Kerrang! The Album '09
The genius of the annual Kerrang! compilation is that, like the Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival, if you're an avid reader of said magazine, then chances are you're already familiar with every last band on this mammoth forty-two track compilation, even the acts being billed as 'ones to watch out for.' Spanning two CDs, it's conveniently split into mainstream-bothering punk and rock songs on the first CD, and metal and heavy rock on the second.
