Now here's a curious bugger if ever there was one. I first saw Mr Charming about nine months ago supporting Higher Sights at the Mixing Tin where they seemed to be playing a mix of Jane's Addiction style funk metal with some basslines which sounded more akin to Ian Dury and the Blockheads.

'Overcome' is out first taster of Creed's forthcoming 'Full Circle' album, their first release since 2004's 'Greatest Hits' compilation and their first studio album since 2001's 'Weathered.' There's an influx of singer/songwriters at the moment, not just in Leeds but seemingly everywhere. CD Review: The Donnas - Gold Medal
I think every girl would secretly like to be a Donna. I mean, what teenager doesn't want to wear a pair of cowboy boots, some tight rhinestone-embellished jeans, plenty of beads and toss their suitably windswept and tousled beachy hair around their face and a stage for a good half hour or so?

Brazil are probably the most over-underrated Leeds band not to come from Leeds. CD Review: Various Artists - Showcase: West Yorkshire SXSW 2007
'This town is in disarray' claims the opening track from this sampler, but clearly not in a bad way. As an album it may suffer from being a hotchpotch of radically different offerings from local record labels, but I'd be surprised if any unwitting industry mogul - into whose hand this disc may have been thrust at the recent SXSW festival, and who actually took the time to give it a spin - failed to diagnose a clean bill of health for the current Leeds scene.

CD Review: Joanna Newsom - Ys
This is an interesting beast. It's a mere five tracks in length, but sprawls out over an hour's playing time.

Live Review: This Et Al + The Sunshine Underground + Corleone + The Playmates
Mr Neil, lead singer of The Playmates ostentatiously parades on and off the stage, needlessly brash and purposely demented, he bids to blow the sweaty-browed gathering to smithereens with his typecast ruffled rock star demeanour.

CD Review: Johnny Foreigner - Waited Up 'Til It Was Light
Johnny Foreigner are a strange band in that they have consistently got great reviews including a 10/10 for their debut EP 'Arcs Across The City' on Drowned For Sound and an 8/10 for this their debut album from NME, yet they still remain an unknown quantity outside of their hardcore followers and have received little hype compared to what a lot of other new bands have.

Live Review: Captain Skalet
When Captain Skalet returned from downtown Tadcaster after a fruitful venture to forage for food (at Ceaser's Pizzas), the signs were looking good.

Live Review: King Prawn + Mr Dogg + Mr Shiraz
Now this was a weird experience for me. My knowledge of Ska/Punk essentially stops at dub and gets about as animated as a stoned lemur, but I had heard the MR SHIRAZ CD, "Off The Tongue", so at least knew I wouldn't be sitting down much through the evening.

Live Review: Chapter Thirteen + Itch + Riot Star + Bill Posters
The kids are where it's at, man. Every teenage band I've seen at the Well have got all their mates from school down and all of them get the hallowed moshpits.

Live Review: The Icarus Line + Modey Lemon + Colour Of Fire
Colour of Fire, acclaimed local(ish) alt-rockers, opened up tonight in front of a reasonable crowd. Having just finished a considerable UK tour, they didn't seem at all tired, or perturbed to back in their regular gigging territory.

Live Review: four day Hombre + Leafeater + goad
I was looking forward to this gig as I knew pretty much nothing about goad and Leafeater and hadn't seen four day Hombre for almost 10 months.

Live Review: Rothko + The Boats + Glissando + Pan Am Scan + Sleepingdog + Phantom Dog Beneath The Moon + Spokes
Tonight may be billed as 'Forest of Sound Vs Gizeh Records', but the musically complementary and socially affable dynamic between the two rooms, and quite literal musical-chairs of collaboration going on in the Packhorse, negate any connotations of rivalry.

The second day of Moor Festival and we are now fully equipped with the mandatory rain and mud. Squelching through mud traps and water logs would seem much less manageable if there wasn't the promise of exciting sets in each corner of the sludge-ridden field.

CD Review: Various Artists - TNS 008
The eighth release from punk record label TNS, is a three way split EP featuring a trio of bands who each have their own take on ska-punk - and none of them sound like Reel Big Fish.
