This is an archive of the band profile for Formes.

Hailing from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, 'Formes' are a relative newcomer to the music scene having formed in 2012. Brothers Steve and Jordan McNamara and Rob Hemingway (aka The Alchemist) together create music which takes the listener on a rich and complex musical journey, with just a slight nod towards psychedelia.

With Steve on bass and lead vocals, Jordan on drums and The Alchemist on guitar and keyboard (simultaneously) the music of Formes gently draws the listener in, with intricate guitar, mesmerising drums and bass, complimented by rich reverbed vocals.

Formes have already been recognised as ones to watch for 2013 on website 'Louder Than War's' annual list. With airplay from Alan Raw on BBC Introducing who described their music as 'beautiful', acclaim from Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) and plays from Beth Elfyn (ex BBC Radio 1), Gill Mills, Shell Zenner and Simon Raymonde (Cocteua Twins) on Amazing Radio.

With influences ranging from Pink Floyd, early Verve, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Deftones and Tool, Formes refuse to be pigeon-holed into one particular genre, instead preferring to create their own particular sound. All members are multi instrumentalists and will often switch instruments during live performances which are atmospheric and experimental, building from ambient beginnings to gut-wrenching ending.
