Glassbody were last night confirmed on the line up for the annual Reading and Leeds Festivals after claiming their spot by taking top spot at the final of the Centre Stage 2012 competition.

A musical mix of 12 local bands wowed a crowd of around 1,300 music fans, host Alan Raw and an array of industry judges, before Glassbody were announced as the overall winner.

In order to enter, artists must be under 21 years old, with at least one band member at school or college in West Yorkshire. Given just 11 minutes each to shine, all bands performed superbly and demonstrated the quality of young bands in the region.

All at Leeds Music Scene were thoroughly entertained by all bands, with a number of standout bands and individual performances.

The event, which raised over £25,000 for Centre Stage, was judged by Neil Pengelly (Booker for Leeds and Reading), Mike Heaton (Embrace), Jeremy Lascelles (Former Virgin A&R Manager/ CEO Chrysalis Music), Ross Jarman (The Cribs) and Matt Bowman (Pigeon Detectives).

Congratulations to Glassbody - see you at the festival!
