More local acts have been added to Oakwell Music Festival's line-up after the addition of a third stage.

The acoustic stage will host Issimo, an eight piece ensemble from Yorkshire with a ska/reggae/funk/jazz vibe, as well as local artists Simon Walker, Izzy Thomas, Jade Helliwell, Contact and Julian Socha.

The final slot for the Robert Watts Marquee stage, which is to be headlined by Mark Morriss from the Bluetones, is to be decided by a Battle of the Bands competition at Kirklees College, giving young, aspiring musicians the opportunity to play a big festival.

Organiser Paul Fisher said: "The Battle of the Bands is a great opportunity for young, local talent to take their first steps into the spotlight and share the stage with some massive names in music."

The festival is a family friendly event with a whole host of activities to entertain the children including a funfair and bouncy castles.

The festival is headlined by chart toppers The Hoosiers, who will be joined on the main stage by Lucy Spraggan, The Dunwells, X-Factor finalists Kingsland Road, Rory Hoy, Famous Villains and Redemtion.

Tickets are on sale at £20 for adults and £10 for concessions (aged 11-16). Children aged 10 and under are free.
