This is a review of "City Place" recorded by Dead Disco. The review was written by Matt Gibson in 2006.

Girl power. Synth pop. It’s in right now and Leeds has a monopoly on cool. Or so it seems. Dead Disco, as their name suggests, are a tad uninspiring. No they didn’t steal it from a Metric song and yes, given a second I can find a handful of Myspace children who got there first. Lead-in submarine synths go pop pop, think Duke Spirit for the vocals and a heavy dose of clumsy power chords on guitar. OK I admit, I am overly cynical. It’s catchy, poppy and a fair listen. They’re good live too. Energy! That’s what they’ve got. And looks. Watch out for the Blondie-rip breakdown at the one minute fifteen mark.
