Professional musicians and amateurs with a passion for making music in West Leeds are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Urban Fusion project.

Organised by Leeds City Council, the Urban Fusion 2006 project aims to fuse together different styles from musicians based in Armley, Bramley and Stanningley to create interesting new sounds which will feature on a CD as well as being performed live.

The annual project aims to get local musicians to explore new music, collaborate with each other and bring the community closer together. Two drop-in sessions for anyone interested in getting involved will take place in the area on:

Saturday 30th September, 2-5pm at Interplay Theatre, Armley.

Wednesday 4th October, 6.30-8pm at Bramley Community Centre.

Professionals from the industry will support the musicians in creating new sounds and, after a rehearsal and recording period where professional producers will oversee the creation of the CD, the music will be performed at a local venue as well as in the city centre.

John Procter (Leeds City Council) said: “This is the fourth Urban Fusion project and we are sure the musicians in Inner West Leeds will make it a great success. This project gives passionate people from all backgrounds a chance to showcase their talents. I hope that many musicians in the area will get involved, help forge new relationships and bring local communities closer together through their music.”
