This is a review of "Old Men Round A Table" recorded by Unclejohnny. The review was written by Rory Holl in 2006.

I’ve heard a lot about this band from various people but never actually seen or heard them so it was good to finally hear them. To be honest, they're not quite as amazing as some people have made them out to be but this single effort is pretty good.

Opening with a quirky bass riff then exploding into a real big juicy slab of reverb drenched dreamy Britpop, and I don't mean oasis, this track has such a strong flavour of The Stone Roses and I think anyone will agree with me on that part. It's like a soaring pop soundscape but last a little too long and kind of outstays its welcome. It's well produced and obviously well written and structured but the melodies lack the hooks and the music kind of lacks in originality, you can't knock the talent of this band as they are very tight and have a good solid sound but it just really doesn't do it for me.

But for anyone who likes a bit of psychedelic old-guitar-pop then this is for you.
