Fifteen musicians and bands from across the region have been given the chance to shine through Bright Young Things 07, the annual Leeds showcase organised by Leeds City Council that offers young local bands and solo artists the opportunity to work directly with industry professionals.

Previous years' participants include The Music and Corinne Bailey Rae.

This year, a panel of music experts chose the final fifteen performers, from over 70 applications, and those musicians are currently recording their contribution to the Bright Young Things CD. Scheduled for a March 2007 release, the CD will be distributed through the Leeds Guide as well as directly to music industry and media contacts around the country.

Also in March all of the selected bands will be given the chance to perform in front of a crowd of their peers, music enthusiasts and industry professionals.

John Procter (Leeds City Council) said, “Bright Young Things provides musicians with a unique platform for new work. It has proven a great success in previous years and I very much look forward to seeing what this year’s musicians have to offer.”

The selected bands and musicians for Bright Young Things 2007 are: All Your Peers; The Chase; Daigoro; Dan Smith; Decree; Rob Galloway; Helena Gee; Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts; The Guests; Rob J Madin; The Touch; Martin Wickham; The Whippets; Wintermute; and Peter Wright.
