There is something about bands with female vocalists that instantly attracts my attention. Is it because it takes my attention away from their drab attempts at music or what? But once in a while, the whole band is good and so is their music. This is the case in the form of Berretta, a 5 piece from Crossgates. Fronted by Hilary Waldenberg, they class themselves as a "Rocky Morcheeba", with sequenced drums and keyboards. A lot of thought has gone into the making of the tracks, and the use off effects adds to the overall sound. The vocals are not as powerful as one would have thought, but this works well. The guitars are a mixture of distorted and clean, and compliment the keyboards and bass. The songs are very good and well played, and you can tell even at this early stage, Beretta have a great future ahead of them.
