Biography

pop indie

Leeds five-piece Kaiser Chiefs are:

Ricky Wilson (vocals)
Andrew "Whitey" White (guitar)
Simon Rix (bass)
Nick "Peanut" Baines (keyboards)
Nick Hodgson (drums and vocals)

Having previously played together in various guises, it was in 2003 that Kaiser Chiefs were officially unleashed. In April 2004, the band released their debut single "Oh My God" on indie label DrownedinSound which reached number 66 in the UK charts, received "Single Of The Week" from NME and had Radio One's Steve Lamacq describe its "jerky, lurching chorus which had Your Humble Scribe hooked after three plays".

Signed to B-Unique shortly afterwards, Kaiser Chiefs released the Top 20 hit "I Predict A Riot" in November 2004, before again hitting the charts with the re-release of "Oh My God" in February 2005.

The multi-platinum selling debut album "Employment" reached number 2 in the UK album chart and was top ten in the US. Appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Live 8 followed.

Second album, "Yours Truly, Angry Mob" was released in February 2007 and went to number 1 in the UK album chart in March.

WE WANT MORE TOO says me, myself & I!! The Kaisers truly made everything shine at Glasto & made me go bonkers (clearing a nice space) when I was a squashed sasquatch at Live 8, London. I just have one grievance/query and that is that my mum reckons Ricky went to same primary school as me and that wasnt in Leeds. I hope he's not doing an Embrace and dissing his roots!! can anyone confirm!?

I just want to say that the KFC's have done nothing to inspire me what so ever.

Just another example of a band caught up in this so called half assed indie revival!

Now, I say this as a musician! I regret the day I became a musician as it has made me a cynic rather than taking music at face value.

But I say this as a cynic; their music does not inspire me to pick up a guitar or any other instrument.

They are the only band that writes a chorus weaker than the verse!

They dress like my granddad!

They will be as all other bands are now-a-days! There one minute, forgotten the next.

Sorry KFC's!

I agree with him ^^^

Well. I don't think they're that bad as a band, but I really can't see the appeal from all the indie bands out.

Surely they're all just re-writing the same song?

What you're saying then is, it does not move you, it does not get you going at all.

They're the bestest band since sliced bread!!!!!!!
