The stylish new sounds of...

By Buen Chico

Every so often something special comes along, something really special. Buen Chico: local laidback teenagers that created a stir of late by recording an amazing demo before sitting back to watch the labels buzz around them with avid interest and intent. A crazy week has passed, and now virtually everyone seems to want a piece of the action. But why exactly? Well, The stylish new sounds of... oozes with influences, comparisons and songwriting quality, mixing 60's style power-pop with garage punk, touched with the occasional element of emo. Not easily comparable then? Think Great Lakes through to The Strokes but then every band in between; and in la la la (I can't hear you), before the four piece head off into uncontrolled guitar frenzy, there's also a touch of Violent Femmes about them. Featuring great affected harmonies, constantly melodic guitars, and remaining radio friendly throughout it is the incredibly infectious opening track, the poptastic I don't care, that might just open the right doors for Buen Chico...
