This band of the month is getting beyond a joke if bands like this are winning it. No credibility it in.

I think its a mixture of bands who are doing well and getting votes for it e.g Kaiser Chiefs and Vib Gyor versus bands who get their mates to vote. Though I'm sure at times it is a mixture of the two.

Hey Amigo, I can't say it had any credibility from the start (as such). It's only a bit of fun, aimed purely at driving more people to the site (directed by bands who say "vote for us at LMS") who will then stick around hopefully to view the rest of the site and therefore take in the good stuff that is going on at the same time.
It's just a quick and easy bit of fun, and yeah, the bands with the most online mates could win or it could be because a lot of independent people think they are good. A mixture, and more of the former I'd guess.
But with anything this simple (ie, sign up and then vote) you won't get any meaningful results. But its not serious.
It also drives the recommendations for bands, so people who vote for several bands they like will work the band recommendations, so that's the other area of the site it comes in useful. Without people's votes (and a lot of people do vote for many different bands) you wouldn't have this other part of the site.
So: bit of fun; has its uses.

By the way, my explanation of how the thing drives the site doesn't attempt to deflect from this band receiving the most votes last month and fair play to them.

What about having a CD of the month vote? That could have some uses. Think of the fun

Or writer of the month? I could start a banner campaign!
Drive round the streets of Leeds with a loudhailer. "Vote De Forge!!"

Dunno about that. Though if we had a "best name" of the month award then Holden DeForge would win it everytime. Greatest name i've ever heard besides Sharp Murgatroyd. Another fine name.

And when Velvette Ravelle was part of the C6 possie I reckon we had Best Male & Female Names In A Rock Band covered!

It was my spelling of Velvette that made it so cool though

Some of the votes are from friends but a lot are from people who know and like the band etc etc. We only want to get mentioned on the top 5 to get the name out a bit but we ended up winning it with not so many people.
I think the best part of the site comes from bands pushing themselves on here anyway, i've heard of Catylyst, threekseven, novelis and other good bands through it.
Maybe some people should see bands like us and ridgevex etc before they judge who we are

How can you smile at 7:41 in the morning dave? It's 8:34 now and i'm on my 3rd cup of crappy coffe from a machine. Once that all kicks in I should be able to muster up a frown by about 12.
