This is a review of "s/t" recorded by Ridgevex. The review was written by Sam Saunders in 2003.

Not bad beginner stuff. But a long way from ready to roll up the slithering pile of shite that is modern popular music.

Sort of emo rock I suppose. Singing by DaN is often off -key and sometimes colourless but it is heartfelt. Drumming and bass playing (Pat and Adam) are OK and the guitars (Oli and DaN) are unexceptional. The lyrics, written by DaN mean a lot to the lads themselves but they are very unsteady.

The CD has five tracks. Four full songs and one short instrumental are on offer. "Seveneight", "Sellout", "Where Did I Go Wrong?" and "College Connection" are the main titles. Guitar sounds on the instrumental (Earth.Wind.Fire.water) are a bit wayward.

Top moment is the very effective damped guitar and rifficatious intro to "Sell Out".

Time, experience and much practice needed.
