This is a review of "Dark Black" recorded by Pop Threat. The review was written by Dave Sugden in 2001.

If you haven't experienced the rather marvellous Pop Threat for a while, you'll be intrigued by the fact that they sound nothing like their earlier days. Out goes their Sonic Youth-derived soundscapes and in comes a more honed, melody driven affair built around Caroline's beautifully crafted vocals, albeit almost spoken-word at times. Their previous release hinted at a sound similar to Darling Buds, though they've moved on a touch now, perhaps towards Delgados. There's an underground feel, it's full of emotion and even includes strings - a great addition to anyone's record collection.
